There is a breakfast and lunch restaurant in Hyannis, Massachusetts called the Daily Paper. On a recent trip to Cape Cod, we visited this restaurant for breakfast as part of our vacation. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. We would definitely recommend the Daily Paper to anyone visiting Cape Cod.
The Daily Paper has two locations, one in downtown Hyannis and the other near the Barnstable High School. The one near the Barnstable High School is much larger and a better location if you are visiting during busy breakfast hours. You are likely to wait in a smaller line than downtown.
Even though there was no gluten-free menu on the table, the waitress told us that they could make nearly everything on the menu gluten-free, including gluten-free pancakes and fresh berries gluten-free waffles. My daughter was thrilled to know that she would be able to eat waffles at the restaurant. She also ordered a side of home fries.
I ordered the daily Corned Beef hash special with 2 eggs and home fries. This is different from the regular Corned Beef on the menu as that one comes from a can. This version is homemade hash.
As for the waffle order, it took a very long time to prepare. Everyone got their orders, but we were still waiting for our waffles. The waitress informed us that it would take a bit longer to prepare the gluten free waffles, I estimated that my daughter had to wait two minutes for her order. My daughter was eating the home fries while she was waiting.
The waffles were good she did eat a good size portion. She liked it and definitely would go back and order it again - despite the long wait to get the order.
Good Food
It was a good meal at the restaurant, but one dish didn't turn out well since the potch eggs were cooked too much and were difficult to spread over the fries, as a result, they were not as good as we might have liked.
I think overall we would go back on our next Cape Cod vacation. It was a nice that our daughter could get gluten free waffles in a restaurant.
