O'Connell's Pub
Recently, a new restaurant opened in Framingham called O'Connell's Pub. This is located along Route 9 Eastbound, across the street from Staples and Trader Joes, in the former Asia Buffet building.
A couple of weeks ago we stopped in for a quick bite before church. We were going to go to Ruby Tuesdays, but thought it would be fun to try a new place.
The restaurant parking lot was pretty busy and we were a little worried that there might be a wait. We were surprised to find that there was plenty of seating at the bar and in the main restaurant. We were seated right away.
Looking around we could still see some of the Asia Buffet decorations, which looks a little out of place for an Irish Pub.
The menu also really surprised us since there aren't many Irish selections. I noted that the British Beer Company down the street had more Irish selections on their menu.
For an appetizer we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. The chips were good, but the dip tasted like it came from the microwave and was a little cool in the middle.
As for dinner, we ordered the Buffalo Chicken wrap and the Old Fashion Pub Burger. The Buffalo Chicken was not too spicy and was pretty good. The French fries were good enough to finish, but I had to add salt to add flavoring.
Over all we were not impress by the restaurant. The service was a little slow, in fact, we had to flag down our waitress to get our check, but that could be because it was a busy night. She was quick to process the credit card and refill our drinks. While it is always good to try new places and go to local restaurants, there was nothing about this place that left us wanting to go back for more.
Download a PDF of their takeout menu and see what you think of the selection. Note: The menu has a mostly green background. I removed some of the green to make it printer friendly.
