Crucial 8GB Memory

This past weekend I installed 8GB of memory in my Late-2011 iMac. Before I started, I printed up the directions on how to install the memory so that I had clear step by step directions.

I purchased my memory from Amazon Prime, they had the cheapest price ($79.95) and fastest delivery. I did learn that the iMac Late-2011 only accepts 2Gb and 4GB memory and the max memory that I can install is 16GB.

The only change I would make in the directions would that Apple suggest using any Philips screwdriver. You are best to use a Mini Precision Screwdriver set, as a regular Philip is too big for the screws.

Having more memory in the computer allows me to open up more programs at the same time, I was having slowness issues opening up iPhoto and Firefox with 2GB of memeory. More memory is essential for Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac. I should have upgraded a lot time ago.
