Alternative to Zip Disk Drives
The Iomega Zip Drive was introduced in 1994, in 1999 Castlewood Systems introduced the ORB Drive.
About the Orb Drive
The Orb Drive is a 3.5-inch removable hard-disk drive introduced by Castlewood Systems in 1999. Its original capacity was 2.2 GB. A later version of the drive was introduced in 2001 with a capacity of 5.7 GB. Manufacturing of this product ceased in 2004, but it remains popular among computer enthusiasts and collectors due to its low cost and small size."
The Orb Drive's popularity can be attributed to several factors: its low price, small size, and ease of use. The drive was one of the first to offer a large storage capacity relative to its physical size; at just 3.5 inches wide, it could hold up to 5GB worth of data - more than ten times what an average floppy disk could hold."
Despite being discontinued more than a decade ago, the Orb Drive still has many fans among computer enthusiasts and collectors due to its combination of features and low cost
