Cold Temp Environmental Requirements
How Cold Can You Best Use the iPhone 14?
The iPhone 14 Pro Max doesn't offer any more protection against cold weather than previously released iOS devices. Apple has the following statement regarding the iPhone or iPad getting too hot or cold:
Use iOS and iPadOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0- and 35- C (32- to 95- F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause your device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS or iPadOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.
Store your device where the temperature is between -20- and 45- C (-4- to 113- F). Don't leave your device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.
Environmental Requirements
The following are the Environmental Requirements for the iPhone:
Operating ambient temperature: 32- to 95- F (0- to 35- C)
Non-operating temperature: '4- to 113- F ('20- to 45- C)
Relative humidity: 5% to 95% non-condensing
Operating altitude: tested up to 10,000 feet (3000 m)
The iPhone has not been improved to work well in super cold weather despite all the technological advances. However, the iPhone has seen numerous improvements in other areas, such as processor speed and camera capabilities. The most common complaints about the iPhone in cold weather are that it can temporarily shorten battery life and cause the device to turn off.
GoPro Hero 9 Temperature Requirements
Interesting to note that the GoPro can work in colder temperatures than the GoPro Hero 9:
The operating ambient temperature range of the HERO9 Black is 14- F ~ 95- F (10- C ~ 35- C). High temperatures will cause your camera to use more power and drain the battery faster.
The GoPro has a cooler operating ambient temperature than the iPhone.
The GoPro battery will last longer in colder weather than an iPhone. If you want to take a video of skiing, use a GoPro rather than an iPhone. The Go Pro is designed for extreme conditions and temperatures, so it is better suited for outdoor activities in colder temperatures than an iPhone. Additionally, the batteries on the Go Pro are designed to last longer in cold weather, meaning that you will be able to get more footage with less charging.
