Panasonic DC-FZ80
Video Capture Tips and Tricks
This week's media is a change-up from the standard media feature. This week I am focusing on how to get the most out of my Panasonic DC-FZ80.
The Panasonic DC-FZ80 is an excellent camera at a very affordable price. I use it every week to take videos of a local church service. The only thing is that the video colors don't match up to the Nikon 7500 camera.
I am not saying a $299 camera should have the same results as a $3000 camera. I do think that I am not getting the best use from the Panasonic DC-FZ80 camera. After all it has gotten great reviews from experts and consumers.
Four Ways to get the best Video
Shoot at 4K - Shooting at 4K comes with a time penalty. At 1080p I can shoot up to 30-mins of video. When shooting a 4K the max limit is 15-mins. The advantage of going 4K is you maximize the quality of the picture.
Adjust ISO Before Shooting - Set the ISO settings before clicking the record button. Make sure the picture is good before the video starts.
Use Movie Mode for recording - While you can record video at any time by clicking on the record button, you are better off using the movie mode to get the most configurations to get the best shot.
Check Metering Mode - One reason that colors may be off is that the wrong metering mode is being used. Used the quick menu setting to set the proper metering mode.

Phishing Call to Seniors - and I am not one!
Jeff Anderson from Medicare Benefits called me last week. Not exactly sure why I got the call seeing that I am many many years away from collecting Medicare Benefits.
Jeff really wanted my age.
I wasn???t going to volunteer information.
Here???s how the call went,,,,
PermalinkBest Media Files of 2021
Videos worth Watching again
These are the best media files of 2021 - based on hit stats.
The Laura Ingraham Show (October 18, 2021) - This audio clip takes you back to the 2004 President???s election. What were the biggest issues for the first major election after the September 11, 2001 attacks?
Phone Call went Wrong (April 19, 2021) - The person that called me wasn???t paying attention and thought I said something different.
Car Warranty Calls (August 23, 2021) - Sometimes I get cold calls about my car warranty being expired. They don???t even know the car that I have.
The Morton Downey Jr. Show (August 2, 2021) - This is a great clip of the Morton Downey Jr. Show featuring Doctor Fad.
Rich Little Answering Machine (May 31, 2021) - There was a time when people were trying to be clever on the answering machine messages. Listen to this Radio Shack classic.
Video Professor (April 26, 2021) - Part of the classic Video Professor Infomercial. This is a nice walk down memory lane on how people would learn popular software programs.
Goals for 2022
I???ll be working on increasing my YouTube subscribers from 50 to 150 by this time next year. In order to do that, I???ll have to post a lot more creative videos.
I have bins of VHS tapes that I haven???t gotten to yet. I am sure that I???ll find some great clips to share.
PermalinkBluBlockers
Rapping Guy on the Infomercial
In the late 1990s, BluBlockers ran a bunch of Tv Infomercials. One of those featured the "Rapper" guy. I don't know why, but this part of the infomercial seems so memorable.
You can buy BluBlockers online just about anywhere including Amazon and eBay.
PermalinkBank Account Problem
Caller Claims to Want to Kill me
This week's video will go down as a classic moment for scam calls.
I have been getting a lot of these scam calls and over the past few weeks have been playing with them. My home and cell number must be flagged and last week one of the callers threaten to kill me.
Bank Account Issue
Listen in on this short exchange about some Suspicious funds in my bank account.
Background picture is from Columbia, California from 2002.
Originally I thought this was a bank call but it was something to do with my Social Security number. Not sure how the two of them are related. I am guessing when you are not from this country, anything is possible. PermalinkKRONs Daybreak Business Report
Broadcast from September 2000
This week's video features KRON's Daybreak Business Report from the KRON morning broadcast on September 18, 2000.
In this report find out about how Qualcomm CEO is in trouble and what Joe Montana is up to off the field.
In this report the Dow is at 10,901.75 and the NASDAQ is at 3,821.11.
Today the Dow closed at 35,227.03 and the NASDAQ closed at 15,225.15

PermalinkAmazon Scam Call
Have you gotten these calls?
This week's audio clip is nice and short. This is the Amazon iPhone scam that is going around. Basically, a recording tells you that someone has ordered an iPhone off of your account.
The "Amazon Representative" will issue you a refund if you screen share your computer. (Instead of just canceling the order and refunding any charges as any other company would do.)
Amazon Call
This is the cleanest version of the introduction part of the call that I could get:
The call was short because I asked too many questions that weren't on the operator call sheet.
Permalink1998 Commercials
Some Classic 1990s commercial
This week's media collection features six classic commercials from 1998.
- Small Solder Movie Trailer
- Walmart - Clown Commercial
- Jack in the Box - Featuring the Taco Bell Dog
- McDonalds - Eddie the Echo ordering a McDouble
- Wendy's - Chicken Nuggets for .99
- Blockbuster - Prisoners Commercial

PermalinkHealth Insurer Quotes
Robo Call that Ends Poorly
This week's audio sound byte is another robot auto-dialer fail.
I got this call earlier this summer. This is a robocall for the Health Insurer Quotes (pretty generic company name eh?) The call was never able to transfer to a live operator.
These types of calls are illegal. There's no way to track the call down. Even the number that they tried to call (773) 207-1080 is a dummy number.

PermalinkTravel to Cape Cod
Hopkinton to Orleans Massachusetts
This past Thursday, I drove down to Orleans, Massachusetts from Hopkinton, Massachusetts. I took out the GoPro Hero 9 and set up the Time Lapse.
My TimeWarp Default Settings on GoPro Hero 9: Resolution: 1080, Lens Wide, Speed Auto, Speed Ramp: Read Speed, Schedule Capture: Off, Duration: No Limit, Timer: Off, Zoom: 1.0x, EV Comp: 0, White Balance: Auto, ISO Min: 100, ISO Max: 1600, Sharpness: High, Color: GoPro, Wind: Auto.
Watch the Trip!
In the following video, I used the default TimeWarp settings. When I got to the Borne Bridge, I enabled the real speed and then went back to Hypersmooth once I was on the Cape.
Video was shot on November. 4, 2021.
This is interesting because the trip started at 4:30 pm, and ended around 6:30 pm. This means the video starts in light and ends in darkness. It's a good way to see how GoPro handles low light in Hypersmooth mode.
